Lead a community of first-year political science, social work, sociology, and public service students.
-Coordinate and deliver a weekly one-hour seminar for 13-15 weeks during Fall semester, based on the curriculum developed by your experiences and your direct supervisor
-Attend training sessions during the spring semester prior to employment
-Attend scheduled bi-weekly 1-on-1 supervision meetings
-Serve as liaisons and guides for invited guest speakers
-Meet all expectations set by Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life for the coordination of the non-credit seminar
-Maintain a professional demeanor and optimistic attitude and will be a positive role model, which includes, but is not limited to, being on time and prepared for all Living-Learning Community (LLC) related commitments; dressing appropriately during all LLC events and meetings; meeting deadlines; managing personal/professional time; using appropriate language and humor, and checking email at least once daily
-Be free of conduct sanctions at the time of offer and throughout employment
-Maintain confidentiality when in communication with students and will share information with only the appropriate individuals on the learning team, usually the direct supervisors
-Maintain a 2.50 cumulative GPA and be a full-time student over the course of employment
-Develop and create relationships with the Resident Assistants and Residence Director responsible for the Living-Learning Community
-Serve as a liaison between Living-Learning Community students, Housing and Residence Life staff, and LLC supervisors to assist in overall operations of the community.
-Offer support and advice (mentorship) as students encounter periods of struggle
-Connect students to academic and social resources to help best serve students’ needs
-Maintain and promote 1 in-hall hour per week on the actual floor to act as a resource and be readily available to assist students with needs
-Complete other duties as assigned
The position is a $500 stipend that is paid at the end of the fall semester.
