Summer Intern Systems Engineering Student
This is an opportunity to join the fast-paced world of engineering the next generation manned and unmanned combat vehicles and watercraft systems for the U.S. Army and Marine Corp. Working as a DCS employee in Littleton, Massachusetts, you will assist in the development of electrical and electronic systems and subsystems for military ground vehicle and marine vessels. This is a full-time paid summer internship position.
Essential Job Function:
Under supervision of a senior engineer:
- Participate in requirements development
- Interface with internal and external customers
- Produce requirements artifacts
- Develop system architecture, ICD, and compliance verification matrix
- Characterize and measure system performance
- Coordinate and oversee systems engineering processes throughout product development life cycle
Required Background & Skills:
- Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Junior or Senior year candidate for bachelor’s degree in systems, robotics, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
- Basic proficiency with modeling and simulation such as Matlab Simulink or similar tools
- Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and system level design and the ability to develop system level requirements and design artifacts
- Experience developing system and subsystem level requirements and designs for hardware and software implementations
- Working knowledge of COTS equipment
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and PowerPoint)
Desired Skills:
- Previous internship experience working with ground vehicles equipment: computers, network switches, radio communications, power supplies, wire harnesses, and other equipment.
- Experience with use of requirements development software, e.g. DOORS or similar
- Experience with ruggedized COTS and military grade equipment
