This role will require strong technical skills and a passion for improving the environment by addressing the environmental impacts of products and manufacturing facilities. Key Responsibilities of the Life Cycle ntern:
- Life Cycle Assessment Intern will be working on projects with a focus on the improvement of the environmental, health, and safety systems that benefit our company and plants
- Supporting the Product Stewardship and R&D teams by identifying and quantifying product sustainability impacts
- Contributing to the following efforts:
- Collection and management LCA data
- Perform LCA modeling using leading LCA software
- Develop LCA-related tools and training for AWI teams including Innovation and Sustainability
- Develop environmental impact disclosures such as Environmental and/or Health Product Declarations
- Identify opportunities for product impact reductions using a variety of tools including energy generation and efficiency, optimized materials, and supply chain engagement
- Develop material health disclosures
- Utilizing support and guidance of the R&D management to ensure results achieved directly benefit the organization as well as personal development
Qualifications
- Must be pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, cumulative and within major
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the specific ability to work in teams
- Capability to build relationships with other functions within the organization
- Well-developed computer skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Knowledge and/or experience with LCA modeling and/or software such as GaBi or SimaPro, preferred.
