In an international internship program organized by The Intern Group, you can build your resume with an internship abroad, at any time of year. We are partnered with over 3,000+ host organizations and offer first-class international NGO and Non-Profit internships. All internships can be conducted in English, regardless of country. No foreign language is required in most career fields. Please note that US residents can also apply to the New York Program.

Note, visa rules in the above destinations often require the internship to be unpaid.

Cost and funding

Our program fees include your housing while you’re abroad and a range of exciting extras like social events, success coaching, and much more. The fees for these services vary depending on your destination and start date, but you can easily explore all your options and detailed costs on our website—plus, we’ve got funding alternatives to help you plan.

Once accepted, securing your spot is easy with a deposit, and the rest of the program fee is split into two instalments. Many of our participants have offset their costs with scholarships or grants. If you’re a U.S. college student receiving a Pell Grant, you’re eligible for a $500 discount on our In-Person and Digital Nomad programs.

Responsibilities

Some responsibilities that you may have whilst completing an NGO and Non-Profit internship program include:

  • Manage social media & create promotional materials for outreach.
  • Assist with fundraising campaigns & events (planning, execution, donor engagement).
  • Research, write & apply for grants.

Available programs

  • In-person internships: Combine first-class professional experience and culture immersion with an in-person internship in global cities.
  • Blended internships: Spend four weeks working abroad then continue remotely with the same company anywhere in the world. This program offers flexibility and accessibility for those who don’t want to live overseas for long periods.
  • Digital Nomad internships: Travel to an exciting international destination and work remotely. Live and work like a local!
  • Remote internships: Make your resume shine and grow your network, wherever you are – all you need is your laptop. Our virtual internship program includes a remote internship to fit your schedule, best-in-class career advancement training and twelve-month access to exclusive, real-time keynote career talks from global business leaders.

Start dates & time commitment

Start dates are available every month of the year, and program length can be anywhere from 4 to 24 weeks depending on the type of program. You can find a complete list of available start dates on our website here.

  • In-person programs usually demand a full-time commitment for your internship (40 hours a week).
  • Remote and Digital Nomad programs can be full-time (40 hours a week) or part-time (10, 20 or 30 hours a week).

How to apply

  1. Apply & Interview: Apply online through our website and schedule a quick call with our Admissions team.
  2. Secure Your Spot: If accepted, pay a deposit and your first program fee installment.
  3. Professional Profile: Our team creates a profile highlighting your skills and connects you with potential internship locations.
  4. Successful Interviews: Get interview prep and support, maximizing your chances of landing the right fit.
  5. Accept the Offer: Review and accept the internship offer from the company.
  6. Finalize Payment: Pay the second and final program fee installment.

All students and alumni are welcome to apply to The Intern Group. Please check in with your study abroad office and/or academic advisor to ensure that you meet your home institution’s academic requirements. We recommend applying at least three months in advance to ensure sufficient time for internship placement and visa processing.
