Career Ambassadors
Function as undergraduate career paraprofessionals for the Career Center. The position is two-fold: Career Ambassadors will serve both as a first contact for students, faculty, staff and employers visiting or contacting the center and as a peer educator in assisting students with certain career development needs.
Qualifications
· Interest in helping Shippensburg University undergraduate students with career related issues and concerns
· Ability to relate and interact with individuals both one-on-one and in group situations
· Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
· Take initiative and follow through on necessary details
· Demonstrate professional communication when working with supervisors, co-workers, and students
· Comfortable with computers and data entry tasks
· Very detail oriented, accurate
· Able to work independently, well-organized, dependable, timely
· Strong written & interpersonal communication skills
· Must be comfortable greeting and interacting with visitors
· Willingness to work in a team setting and build rapport
· Representation from various Academic Colleges, preferred.
Requirements
Minimum GPA of 2.0
Students graduating December 2026, or later from all majors are welcome to apply Availability to work when center is open (Mondays: 8 am – 6 pm, Tuesday – Friday: 8 am – 4:30 pm)
Availability to attend monthly staff meeting based on other Career Ambassadors’ schedules
Mandatory training takes place pre-semester and monthly.

Shippensburg University On-Campus Student Employment Notice
All student employees must provide written notice to their immediate supervisor and to the Vice President for Student Affairs if they (1) are arrested for, or convicted of, an offense that would constitute grounds for denial of employment or participation in a program, activity, or service; or (2) are named as a perpetrator in a founded or indicated report under the Child Protective Services Law. Such written notice must be provided within 72 hours of arrest, conviction, or notification that the employee has been listed as a perpetrator in the statewide database. A review of the information provided by the employee will occur that may or may not result in denial of employment. HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOU HAVE FEDERAL WORK STUDY
- Log in to the MyShip Experience Portal with your Ship email and password that you created.
- For ACCEPTED STUDENTS click on the “Financial Aid – Accepted Students” box. For CONFIRMED STUDENTS click on the “Financial Aid” box.
- If you have received a financial aid offer email, click on “Financial Aid System” and then click on “Options for Accept Award Offers” and then click on the “Offer” tab.
- All the aid currently offered will be listed.

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY VERIFICATION AND WORK AUTHORIZATION
Employees must present original documents as evidence of identity and employment authorization. These documents should be brought to the Office of Human Resources (Old Main 109) prior to the employee’s first day of work. The list of acceptable documents is available at https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents. Employees can choose to provide one item from List A or one item each from List B and List C. Photocopies of documentation will not be accepted.
All employees need to present their social security card to ensure their legal name is entered into our payroll system.
Employees and hiring departments will receive an “Authorized to Work” email to confirm when the employee may begin working. Students may not work prior to receiving this authorization email from Student Payroll.
BACKGROUND CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
Background clearances are required for this position.
If you have previously completed your employment background clearances within the past five years, you will not need to complete them again. You can submit copies to studentpayroll@ship.edu (if you have not done so already). If you do need to complete background clearances, SU will provide payment codes so that there is no cost to you. These codes and detailed instructions will be sent to you in a separate email.
